A positive message from Today Extra on social media has bizarrely been bombarded with comments from anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists.
The post on the show’s Instagram page featured an image of co-host’s David Campbell and Silvia Jeffreys smiling for the camera with Christmas trees in the background and tinsel with red baubles in the foreground.
‘Only 18 sleeps until Christmas!What are you asking Santa for?’ the caption asked.

The comments section was spammed with a series of responses from those generally against vaccine mandates to rabid anti-vaxxers and conspiracy theorists.
‘A non-corrupt system with no mandates or future lockdowns and for the fear mongering bull shit MSM propaganda to stop, that includes the Burnett Institution who have zero f***en clue about modelling,’ answered one user to the question.
‘Medical freedom.Equality. Basically life as it was back in 2019,’ wrote another.

A handful of conspiracy theorists requested that Today show, Today Extra and MSM, referring to the main stream media, ‘report the truth’.
The idea that the media isn’t reporting the truth has been a common-held belief between conspirophile’s and anti-vaxxer’s since the pandemic began and, later on, when the Covid vaccine was introduced.
One follower bizarrely tried to link the Coronavirus pandemic to ‘media control’ and wrote: ‘The end of Delta Omicron aka ‘meDia cOntrol.’

Some specifically targeted Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, who recently passed his controversial Pandemic Bill through state parliament, asking for him to be ‘put behind bars’.
One Victorian disclosed their wish for Andrews to be ‘jailed’ along with ‘every single weak journalist who helped him and those like him’.

One of the most baffling responses came form a conspiracy theorist who tried to compare the enforcement of the vaccine mandate to apartheid.
‘End apartheid in Australia and start basing decisions on actual science and force Dan Andrews to release the health information he has been ORDERED to release,’ they said.
